  • Stir the solution with a toothbrush.
  • You can also use half a cup (120 ml) of white vinegar as a substitute for soap.
  • Scrub stains with a stiff-bristled toothbrush in small circular motions on the surface of your shoes focusing mainly on the darker stained areas.
  • Do not forget to take out the laces and scrub them separately.
  • Pat dry excess water with a paper towel or a cloth.
  • Avoid wiping the towel across the shoe's fabric as it might spread the dirt across the fabric again.
  • Allow your shoes to air dry for 2-3 hours.

Tip: Clean your shoes at night so you can leave them to dry overnight.

2. Clean with bleach

  • First mix 1 part of bleach with 5 parts of water.
  • Make sure you are working in a well-ventilated area in your home.

  • Wear nitrile gloves while working with bleach to prevent any skin irritation.
  • Use a toothbrush in small circles to lighten stains.

  • You can also separate the insoles from your shoes and run your shoes under the faucet.
