How To Clean Dog Hair Evaporator Coil

Cleaning your A/C Coils Suck!!!

Accept lived in my current firm coming on 4yrs. Never had the Ac inspected or maintenance done and then I establish a coupon and had someone come up out and check it. The guy said my coils were filthy and wanted to charge 250 to clean it. Naturally I figured I could figure it out. Yesterday I took on the chore...

I took off the access panel and looked around and all I could see was canis familiaris hair. My domestic dog likes to sleep side by side to information technology. Upon seeing this I had to take apart the entire environment and spent 2 1/2 hours picking and spraying out all of the domestic dog hair or as much as I could anyhow.

I am posting this considering if I can help 1 person avoid this information technology would exist a success. Do NOT ALOW YOUR PETS TO BE ABLE TO Come NEAR YOUR Air-conditioning Unit of measurement!!!! It makes the task of cleaning your coils much harder than information technology needs to be. I have learned my lesson and have blocked off access.

Do you not have an air filter? Any air filter should prevent pet hair from circulating into your A/C unit.

I dont get it.

How does dog hair get to the coils if the unit has a filter and cover around it?

I'k guessing he's referring to the outdoor units and, yes, information technology is a ***** depending on how your unit of measurement is designed (and of grade how long yous let it become between cleanings).

One of my units that has horizontal vents that point down, you basically have to disassemble the entire outer shell to get decent access to spray out whatever grit/grass/etc. has accumulated. The other unit of measurement I had was much more open (basically a 2x2 in metal filigree) which made it easy to clean. The flip side was that the fins were easily damaged by hail/weedeater/etc.

I have recently replaced that unit with 1 that has vertical vents so it looks like I shouldn't need to dissassemble anything to spray out the fins.

The outside unit unfortunatly does non come with a filter.

Looks similar this and does non accept a filter behind the panels

AH!

I see. Its a bear to clean, but go information technology clean and information technology will be a little happier.

I usually spray the dust and dirt off mine a couple of times a year when I think nearly it...

Just curious how much of a deviation you noticed in the way the A/C worked?

Been 2 days and its been huge. The air is coming out colder and running less. All in all information technology was well worth the problem.

I always spray off the sides from the exterior to keep stray grass clippings, etc. out of the unit.

Should I practice a total power down and disassemble to spray from the inside/out?

was told past our A/C guy that twice a yr its proficient to become a hose and spray the crap out of it to get all the gunk off. it may need a harder cleaning if it hasnt been washed in a while though.

Be sure and spray from the inside of the unit so the dirt does not become stuck in the coils tighter.
